Adjustable Steel Columns

The emergence of engineered wood floor systems in the marketplace brought on the requirement for heavy duty adjustable steel columns.  Engineered wood I-Joists span further than conventional floor joists.  This resulted in heavier loads bearing onto the support beams.  The support beams are also often designed as engineered wood beams, able to out span dimensional beams.  The result of this is fewer support columns required in an area but much higher reactions coming down on the columns.

Standard round columns can support approximately 8000 lbs.  Wesure support columns developed the first heavy duty adjustable column in the industry.  They now have a full line of columns supporting loads up to 60,000 lbs.

Each column has an adjustable head.  This allows for footing elevation variances to be accommodated with the head bolt adjustments without having to resort to shims or fillers.  Having adjustable columns also has the added benefit of being able to adjust beam heights later on should it become necessary due to building settlement and shrinkage.
